*Climate Change Could Cause
Price of Beer to Double, Decrease Consumption 16%:
Climate change may cause the global price of beer to double and consumption to plummet, a new study involving the University of East Anglia concludes.

The study, billed as the first of its kind, published in international science journal Nature.com, warns that beer prices could “on average, double” due to climate change. And, even under the best-case climate scenario, prices will “jump by 15%.”

For example, in Ireland, which boasts the highest per-capita consumption of beer, the price of beer is projected to rise by as much as 193% due to climate change.

Global consumption of beer is expected to decline by at least 4%, and by as much as 16% (a decline in volume equivalent to the total U.S. consumption of beer in 2011).

*Sen. Paul: ‘I Fear That There’s Going to be an Assassination’:
While discussing the two violent attacks against him and the ever-escalating calls by some Democrats to physically confront and harass Republicans and conservatives, Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said he fears there is “going to be an assassination,” that “someone is going to be killed.”

This week, former Attorney General Eric Holder dismissed the slogan, “when they go low, we go high,” and said, “No, no. When they go low, we kick ’em.” Also, former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said this week, “You cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for.” Other liberals, including members of Congress, have called on activists to chase Trump administration officials from restaurants, to “get in their face,” and protest outside their homes.

*Teen Vogue- ‘Can’t #EndPoverty Without Ending Capitalism!’:
Teen Vogue, which bills itself on Twitter as “The young person’s guide to conquering (and saving) the world” declared Wednesday that “ending capitalism!” is the only solution to poverty.

In a tweet touting its online article “Everything You Need to Know About Capitalism,” Teen Vogue opines:

“Can’t #endpoverty without ending capitalism!

“Everything You Need to Know About Capitalism. What it is, how it works, and who is for and against it.”

“What ‘Capitalism’ Is and How It Affects People,” subtitled, “what it is, how it works, and who is for and against it” and published online back in April, portrays supporters of capitalism as wealthy, greedy, and responsible for the existence of poverty:

•    “Individual capitalists are typically wealthy people who have a large amount of capital (money or other financial assets) invested in business, and who benefit from the system of capitalism by making increased profits and thereby adding to their wealth.”

•    “In a capitalist country, the focus is on profits over anything else; in a socialist country, the public is seen to be more important, and social welfare is a major priority.”

•    “The essential anti-capitalist argument is that “the hallmark of capitalism is poverty in the midst of plenty.”

*Trump Administration Moves to Have Pharmaceutical List Prices
Included in TV Ads:
The Health and Human Services Department wants pharmaceutical companies to include list prices in television ads hawking their prescription drugs.

Right now, drug companies are required to disclose a drug’s major side effects, but not the effect that buying the drug could have on your wallet. “Patients deserve more transparency,” HHS said in its announcement on Monday.

The proposal will require television advertisements for prescription drugs – the ones that are paid for by Medicare orMedicaid — to include the list price if that price is greater than $35 for a month’s supply or the usual course of therapy. The prices would be updated quarterly.

HHS said the ten most commonly advertised drugs have list prices ranging from $535 to $11,000 a month or for the normal course of therapy.

*Starbucks selling stores, closing operations in Europe:
Starbucks is restructuring its European operations after several years of slowing sales. The Seattle-based coffee chain is selling 83 company-owned stores in France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg to its longtime partner, Alsea. Alsea will also take over operations at 177 other Starbucks locations in those countries which are owned by franchisees.

Tina Turner breaks silence on son Craig Turner’s suicide
The eight-time Grammy award-winner told BBC News that she can’t figure out what compelled her son to take his life because he had so much going for himself and had even found love.

“I still don’t know what took him to the edge because at that stage he had said to me that he had never met a woman that he felt that way about,” she said, “He was bringing her to meet me [for] his birthday in August. He had decorated his apartment that I bought him years ago. He had gotten a new job with a prominent real estate company in California, [which] he was very happy with.”

At the time of the death, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office told Fox News that Craig Turner died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his home in Studio City, California. He was 59.

11-Year-Old Grace Bedell Urges
Abraham Lincoln to Grow a Beard
A few weeks before Abraham Lincoln was elected president of the US, 11-year-old Grace Bedell sent him a letter urging him to grow a beard to win over voters. Bedell claimed that “all the ladies like whiskers” and would urge their husbands to vote for a bearded Lincoln.

Days later, Lincoln drafted a noncommittal response in which he wondered whether such a change in appearance would be well received. Within months, he was sporting his now-iconic beard.

*EXAMINER–COMMENTARY by Bret Stephens:
Murdering a defenseless journalist in your own consulate isn’t toughness. It’s barbarism. And trying to brazen your way into the clear with empty promises of an investigation and blustering threats of diplomatic reprisal isn’t evidence of a young ruler’s reformist instinct. It’s a path toward a darker form of tyranny.

Donald Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo may think they’re preserving a necessary alliance with Riyadh in the face of moral posturing by their critics. They should take care lest the effect of their forbearance is yet another Mideast monster.

*EXAMINER–COMMENTARY by Thomas B. Edsall:
Over the past 18 years, the Democratic electorate has moved steadily to the left, as liberals have displaced moderates. Self-identified liberals of all races and ethnicities now command a majority in the party, raising the possibility that views once confined mainly to the party elite have spread into the rank and file.

From 2001 to 2018, the share of Democratic voters who describe themselves as liberal has grown from 30 to 50 percent, according to data provided by Lydia Saad, a senior editor at the Gallup Poll.

The percentage of Democrats who say they are moderate has fallen from 44 to 35; the percentage of self-identified conservative Democrats has gone from 25 to 13 percent.

*** Former “America’s Next Top Model” contestant Jael Strauss revealed she is fighting for her life. Last week, the former aspiring model told fans that she was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer that has been determined “incurable.” “I was gonna write some long thing but some of you guys deserve to know,” the 34-year-old wrote on Facebook just a few days ahead of Breast Cancer Awareness month. “On October 2nd I was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer. It has aggressively spread throughout my body and is incurable.”

*** Vince Offer — the guy made famous by the ShamWowinfomercials — apparently couldn’t soak up the problems in his marriage … and his wife has officially filed for divorce. Offer married Melody Barney in Malibu in 2014, and she submitted divorce papers– Wednesday in L.A. to start the process to make them legally single. According to the divorce docs, Barney is asking for legal and physical custody of their 4-year-old daughter. She says Offer can have visitation time. She’s also asking for spousal support. Vince hatched the ShamWow idea back in 2006, and the commercial made him famous in 2009 … and it only cost $20,000 to make.

Offer had some legal issues … back in 2009, he was arrested for allegedly hiring a prostitute who bit his tongue during a hookup and wouldn’t let go until he punched her. Both Offer and the woman were arrested for felony aggravated battery.
